In control, by default.

Gradatimo’s local-first workflow keeps your screenshots, lessons, and project files on your own computer.

Local-first authoring

Screen recording often captures work in progress—internal tools, client documents, file paths, or unreleased interfaces. Because Gradatimo runs locally on your computer without a required account or cloud upload, unedited captures remain on your local storage until you choose to export and share them.

Portable .gradatimo project files

A .gradatimo file is a self-contained project document storing your lessons, steps, screenshots, annotations, and attachments. You can organize .gradatimo files in your own folders, move them between computers, and include them in your regular backups.

Sanitizing screenshots with Permanent Mask

When a captured image includes personal data, credentials, or confidential details, use the Permanent Mask tool in the canvas toolbar:

  • Visual Redact vs. Permanent Mask: While Redact places a removable overlay shape over a region, Permanent Mask permanently replaces the underlying pixels in the source image stored inside the .gradatimo project and updates derived project images (thumbnails, crops, and magnified views) from the sanitized source.
  • Scope of protection: Permanent masking protects the project’s source image and newly generated exports from that project. It does not automatically alter PDFs, HTML files, external backups, or copies you have already exported and distributed elsewhere.
Always inspect your final export: Before distributing a PDF or uploading an HTML guide, review browser tabs, system notifications, window titles, and file paths for unintended private information.
